The rules of Drink or Dare are simple: a card flips, you either do the dare or take the drink. The drink is the exit valve — built-in consent, no judgment, on to the next card. LovePlay's stock deck has 500 commands curated for adult couples, sorted into six named categories instead of one bland "difficulty" axis. That structure is the part most decks online miss.
Custom mode plugs whatever the 500 stock cards don't reach — your in-jokes, the specific kink you've been hinting at, the sober-friendly variant where the shot is a kiss. Same flip-and-choose mechanic. Your commands.
What the stock 500 actually contains
Most "drink or dare" decks online sort cards on a single difficulty axis. LovePlay's deck sorts on category — same physical setup, but each category is tuned for a different mood:
The six stock categories
- Romance (83 cards) — sweet, soft, intimate; no nudity required. Slow kisses, hand-on-face confessions, eye contact.
- Mild Spicy (84 cards) — flirty teasing, light skin contact, neck kisses, lap-sitting.
- Explicit (84 cards) — direct sex acts: oral, foreplay, partner-led intimate contact.
- Challenge (83 cards) — endurance and control: hold a position, edge for a duration, no-laughing eye contact under teasing.
- Truth (83 cards) — explicit truths about partner: fantasies, kinks, what you've imagined and never said.
- Extreme (83 cards) — top-tier challenges for couples who've levelled up. Direct sex commands, dom/sub turns, advanced kink. Reserved for the "behind locked door" sessions.
Your custom deck can extend any of the six categories — or add a seventh that's entirely yours.
Why custom beats sticking to stock
1. Sober-friendly is just a swap
Stock decks assume drinking. Custom lets you redefine the penalty — a 60-second hug, a 10-second kiss, twenty pushups, a forfeit favor. Same mechanic, no hangover.
2. Commands match your edge exactly
The line between "mild" and "extreme" is set by you. Your custom mild can be very mild; your custom extreme can go exactly as far as you've agreed — no further, no less.
3. The cards that landed stay; the rest go
After a play session, mark what worked. Stock decks waste cards on prompts you'd never want again. Custom keeps only the ones that hit.
How to build your custom deck
- Decide your drink → alternative ratio. Define what counts as the drink (shot, sip, half-glass) and what the non-alcohol swap is (60-second hug, 5-second kiss, 20 pushups). Both partners must agree before play.
- Pick which categories you want to extend. You don't have to write all six. Maybe you want 10 new Romance cards plus 10 new Extreme. Maybe just Truth. Pick what you'll actually use.
- Write specific commands with clear end conditions. "Do something sexy" is stock-deck wallpaper. "Kiss my collarbone for 20 seconds" is custom. Every command needs an action plus a stop signal (time or count).
- Add a few "choose" commands. These hand control to the other partner: "Give me a 30-second massage of partner's choice of zone" or "Strip one item — partner picks which."
- Tag each card with its category. Custom mode respects the six-category sort. Tag at write-time so play stays smooth and intensity ramps cleanly.
- Test, then prune. Play one round. Any command that fell flat, mark it. Edit or remove after the session. By the third play the deck is tight.

What the extreme tier actually contains
Before writing your own Extreme cards, it helps to know what the stock Extreme category looks like. Tier 6 commands are direct sex instructions written for couples who've worked up the ladder: partner-led oral with explicit duration, edging to the edge multiple times with no release, full dom/sub turns where one partner obeys without question for a set time, advanced acts for the most experienced couples. The "or drink" out-clause is the safety valve — no card is mandatory, ever.
Your custom Extreme cards extend that register into your kinks specifically. The deck builder accepts text up to 300 characters per card and respects the same six-category sort the stock deck uses.
Best practices
- Pace yourself. If alcohol is involved, alternate one dare with one drink-only round. Burning ten shots in thirty minutes ruins the game and the night.
- The skip-no-penalty rule. Each player gets one free skip per session — no drink, no judgment. Knowing you can opt out makes everyone more willing to opt in.
- Don't shuffle Extreme into Romance. Build the deck by mood. A Friday-night session might pull Romance + Mild Spicy. A weekend-away session might lean Truth + Extreme. The six-category sort is there to keep mood coherent.
- Mark what hit. Cut what didn't. After every session, edit the deck — three new cards in, three stale ones out. By session four it's dialed.
- Build themed sub-decks. Anniversary deck (Romance-heavy with milestone references). Vacation deck (location-specific Mild Spicy). Behind-locked-door deck (Truth + Extreme only). Same game, different sort.
The 500 stock commands are the spine; your custom cards make it your own. Add five new commands every play and within a month the deck stops being LovePlay's and starts being yours.
